…and why we choose simply natural grains
When you become a parent, you want to offer the best to your baby—especially when it comes to what ends up on your little one's spoon. Baby cereals are often among the first foods introduced… but do we really know what’s behind the traditional options?
What are traditional baby cereals, really?
Most baby cereals on the market are actually hydrolyzed flours. Yet on the packaging, you’ll usually just see the word “flour.”
Hydrolysis is a process where grains are pre-digested using enzymes. This creates a very smooth texture and makes digestion easier, but it also alters the natural structure of carbohydrates.
What does this mean for baby?
When carbohydrates have been hydrolyzed:
-
sugars are absorbed more quickly;
-
blood sugar levels can rise faster;
-
part of the nutritional value of the whole grain is lost.
However, when introducing solid foods, the goal isn’t to pre-digest cereals. Instead, it’s to help baby discover the true taste of grains and their natural textures.
What we choose at Belov
To support baby during this important stage, we prioritize foods that are less processed and closer to what nature truly offers.
Our priorities:
-
Cereals made from whole grains rather than hydrolyzed flours.
-
No added sugars or artificial flavours.
-
An evolving texture that encourages chewing and food diversity.
Learning to eat means discovering flavours, textures, and foods in their simplest form.
Building healthy habits from the very beginning
Offering baby less processed foods helps them naturally develop their taste preferences, appreciate the true flavour of grains, and build a strong foundation for healthy eating habits.
At Belov, we believe every small choice matters. Choosing simple, authentic cereals means giving your baby a gentle, nourishing start.
